    Celebrating Indigenous culture and achievements

    PEOPLE

During both National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, Scentre Group’s cultural activities recognised the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

    National Reconciliation Week celebrations

National Reconciliation Week celebrates and builds on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians.

Employees in our support office enjoyed a morning tea with traditional Indigenous food, a didgeridoo performance by Jamali Dawson from Koomurri Performing Arts and a Welcome to Country by Uncle Chicka Madden, a Gadigal Elder and long-term advocate for Indigenous rights.

“It’s important to recognise that the reconciliation journey involves all of us, and for us to move forward we must all accept that we are stronger together.”

    – Ian Irving, Diversity & Inclusion Council Chair.

We celebrated National Reconciliation Week with a didgeridoo performance by Jamali Dawson and Welcome to Country by Uncle Chicka Madden.

NAIDOC Week: a celebration of art, fashion and dance

Westfield Penrith celebrated NAIDOC Week in style with the local community treated to several performances by the Koomurri Aboriginal Dancers. Celebration activities for NAIDOC Week in Penrith included a didgeridoo performance, a full traditional Corroboree and boomerang painting for the kids.

Designs by Indigenous fashion designer Lyn-Al Young were on display at Westfield Doncaster during NAIDOC Week.
