Scentre Group’s recycling program diverted 6,595 tonnes of organic waste materials from landfill disposal in 2016.

Scentre Group's waste and recycling program separates the disposal and collection of organic waste, including coffee grounds. A strategic initiative for 2016 was to recycle organic waste for use in a closed loop energy recovery facility. The initiative reduces landfill costs, generates clean energy to power the community and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

Our centres have worked hard on the initiative, but our Mount Druitt centre has also provided fresh food retailers with additional bins and engaged national cleaning and waste contractors to help separate and collect organic waste.
