The opening of Casey Central demonstrated Scentre Group's ability to deliver top-notch environmental features in the building fabric and nurture sustainable tenant behaviours.
“We’re absolutely thrilled with feedback from our stakeholders following a hugely successful opening.”
– Daniel Boyle, Centre Manager.
The redevelopment of Casey Central included 85 new and expanded specialty stores, food retailers and dine-in restaurants.
As part of our business commitment to deliver assets that are sustainable, and leave a positive legacy, we have integrated innovative environmental features into Casey’s building fabric that reduce energy usage and encourage tenants to improve their waste recycling performance.
At the end of 2016, we announced the sale of Casey Central to new owners. We are proud to pass on the ownership of a centre that is fitted with alternative flooring material, reducing the need for chemical polishing and cleaning treatment.
Another innovation is a mall design that facilitates spill airflow and passive air conditioning systems. This reduces the need for common mall air conditioning. In the first year of the building’s operation, we have provided extensive training to retailers on the waste and recycling facilities available at the centre and engaged the whole asset team in the delivery of best practice waste and recycling management.
